What the Browns need to do to win the Super Bowl

Browns coach Mike Pettine has no qualms about the fact that his team needs to win Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.
“We have a lot of work to do, but we are going to go out there and play,” he said Monday, after a 23-16 victory over the Atlanta Falcons.
“I think that is going to be the biggest test we have ever had.”
The Browns are 8-3 and in first place in the AFC South, thanks to their two playoff wins and a first-round victory over Tennessee.
It is not clear whether the quarterback position is in flux with Colt McCoy out for the year after surgery to repair a torn ACL, but Pettine believes the team has enough talent to contend.
“They have a great defense and I think that’s the reason why we have won four games in a row,” he told reporters.
“The guys have a chance to be great and that’s a huge factor.”
The NFL playoffs have been a major focus of Pettine’s tenure, and he has kept his options open by playing a wide-open quarterback in his final regular season game.
But the Browns still have several games to play before the playoffs, and the pressure is on the players to produce as much as possible.
“What we have to do is go out and compete for championships,” Pettine said.
“This is our job and we’re going to get it done.”
It has been a rough season for the Browns, but they are back in the postseason after going 8-4 last season and 10-4 in 2013.
This season, they are 6-5, but have yet to play a regular season home game.
“There are no shortcuts to winning,” Pettines said.
A big game against the NFC Championship Team will provide a boost for the team. “
When you win and you have the right mindset, the right attitude and you get out there every day and you put in the work, you’re going, ‘Wow.'”

The Browns have won their last two games against NFC teams, including a 21-20 win over Seattle in Week 10.
But they are currently tied with the Carolina Panthers for the worst record in the NFC.
They have been outscored 27-20 in those games.
“A lot of times, you get away with things because of injuries,” quarterback Josh McCown said.
McCown is the NFL’s all-time leader in passing yards with 1,838.5 and passing touchdowns with 38.
“It’s a little disappointing that we’re playing the Panthers and that we have lost.
I don’t know if that’s something we can do about, but I know we have a whole lot of good players in there.”
The Steelers are the only team besides the Browns to beat the Browns in the playoffs in three consecutive years.
The Steelers went 9-4 with Pettine in 2012 and 2015, winning the division with a 13-4 record.
“If you look at what they’ve done over the last two years, the playoffs are really the biggest challenge we have,” Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger said.
The Bengals lost the NFC North title game to the Seahawks in January, and they have not played since.
But coach Marvin Lewis has praised the players and the team’s overall performance.
“You can’t lose your faith in yourself, you can’t put your faith into this team, you need to play hard, you have to get out on the field,” Lewis said.
Pettine and the Browns were 0-5 against division opponents in 2016.
